Message From Director

My name is Horace Bryant III. I am the oldest of 3 Bryant’s. I am the father of 6, two sons and 4 daughters. I was born and raised in the South Bronx of New York City. Life was difficult growing up in a single parented home. Learning to make a way for yourself was important when money was scarce. I learned that hard work itself, was its own reward. Even though wants were few and far between, structure and discipline were paramount to growing up during a time when heroin was affecting many of the older persons in the community.

So when it comes to the youths I began to work with, I am completely aware of the hurt and pain suffered when there is no father, no male role model to pattern oneself after. Too many of the friends I grew up with were under the same circumstances.

After receiving Christ as my Lord and personal Savior, I began to take an interest in the lives of boys and young men who also are attempting to navigate through life’s obstacles.

What originally began with just 1 young man, has blossomed into working with many boys and young men who were troubled, either from home life or problems with the criminal justice system. Saving A Generation was born from these relationships. It was evident that God has called me to service of these youths. And my own family experiences, the “old man” has been very useful when interacting with the young men. First gaining their trust and respect made dealing with the hurt a little softer.

Through the programs that are offered and those to come, SAG will be able to reach the youths of our community and draw out the best in efforts and deeds from these youth deemed at risk.
